PlaySafe ID Secures $1.12 Million in Pre-Seed Funding
PlaySafe ID has successfully raised $1.12 million in its pre-seed funding round, led by Early Game Ventures and accompanied by investments from Hartmann Capital and Overwolf. The funds will be utilized to expand the platform's digital identity capabilities as it prepares for a "go-to-market" launch, aiming to reach 250,000 users. PlaySafe ID provides users with a verified, anonymous, and game-agnostic digital ID, ensuring the authenticity of players and their compliance with community standards. The company is currently engaged in discussions with major gaming platforms and plans to announce its inaugural partnerships later this year. According to PlaySafe ID CEO Andrew Wailes, "This funding round provides us with the necessary resources to accelerate our growth, expand our team, and collaborate with gaming platforms that prioritize a fair and safe environment for players." Wailes emphasizes that PlaySafe ID's mission to safeguard gamers is not only relevant but also essential for compliance with the Online Safety Act and the future of the global gaming industry. Early Game Ventures' managing partner, Cristian Munteanu, expressed his belief in PlaySafe ID's potential, stating, "PlaySafe ID is establishing the foundation of trust for the gaming industry and beyond. In a world where AI and anonymity compromise safety and fairness, PlaySafe ID reinstates balance through identity, transparency, and accountability. The verified identity becomes a portable and valuable asset for gamers across various platforms and genres." Munteanu concludes that as more developers adopt the platform, its value to players will increase, eventually becoming an integral layer of the gaming stack, similar to a Steam or Xbox Live profile.
