GAME Cancels Certain Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders in the UK
UK-based game retailer GAME has announced the cancellation of select Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders. The company, a subsidiary of Frasers Group, did not provide a reason for the cancellations or disclose the number of affected orders. However, it did offer an apology through a statement on its website and social media, with the replies disabled. The statement, titled 'Cancelled Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders', expressed regret over the situation and assured that efforts are being made to reinstate the affected pre-orders. GAME is currently working to resolve the issue and will provide updates to those impacted. The retailer has faced challenges in recent times, including the discontinuation of its pre-owned business, the end of physical currency card sales, and the cessation of in-store pre-orders for new releases. Furthermore, the company experienced significant staff losses at its head office towards the end of last year, leading to difficulties in fulfilling online pre-orders for major releases, with some titles being shipped late. The Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for a global release on June 5, with Nintendo committed to making its products widely available despite market fluctuations.
