Square Enix Reaches Settlement in Copyright Dispute with Mobile Game Developer HK Ten Tree

A copyright infringement lawsuit filed by Square Enix against mobile game publisher HK Ten Tree has been resolved through a settlement. The dispute centered around the alleged use of jointly developed assets from a cancelled game, Front Mission 2089: Borderscape, in Ten Tree's turn-based mecha game, Metal Storm. Square Enix had initially sought to prevent the game's release in the US and claimed $150,000 per copyright violation. However, following a public statement from Ten Tree expressing its desire for an amicable resolution, the two companies have reached an agreement. Although the terms of the settlement remain undisclosed, Square Enix has withdrawn its lawsuit. In a statement, Ten Tree expressed its commitment to providing improved services and apologized for any inconvenience caused, inviting users to continue enjoying the game.
