Six One Indie Expands into Game Publishing

The creators of the Six One Indie Showcase and The Indie Game Awards have announced the launch of their own publishing arm. Six One Indie Publishing positions itself as a unified platform that prioritizes the needs of independent game developers. The label will provide a range of services, including launch strategy development, media outreach, showcase integration, as well as development support for quality assurance testing and localization. Mike Towndrow, creative director at Six One Indie, noted that the gaming market is experiencing rapid growth, but the number of outlets covering and promoting games is decreasing at a similar rate. "Six One Indie has evolved into a robust ecosystem, offering a unique chance for indie games to reach players through innovative and unconventional channels," Towndrow said. He added, "We are not creating a traditional publishing label; instead, we are building one that caters to the new generation of indie developers, where creativity, connection, and control are paramount." Towndrow emphasized that indie developers deserve more than just a standard publishing deal; they deserve a passionate and genuine approach that acknowledges the unpredictable nature of the gaming industry. Founded in 2018, Six One Indie hosted its inaugural showcase in 2022.
