Embracer to Spin Off Coffee Stain Group by 2025, Rebranding Remaining Business as Fellowship Entertainment

By the end of 2025, Embracer plans to separate its Coffee Stain Group into an independent entity comprising community-focused game developers and publishers. This move is part of a larger restructuring effort announced in April 2024, which will see Embracer split into three distinct companies: Asmodee, Coffee Stain and Friends, and Fellowship Entertainment. The new Coffee Stain Group will encompass over 250 game developers and publishers from Coffee Stain, Ghost Ship, Tuxedo Labs, and select studios from Amplifier Game Invest, all based in Scandinavia. Anton Westbergh, co-founder and CEO of Coffee Stain, will assume the role of Group CEO. The shares of Coffee Stain Group will be distributed to Embracer's shareholders and are expected to be listed on the Nasdaq First North Premier Growth Market in Stockholm. Meanwhile, Fellowship Entertainment, the rebranded Embracer Group, will retain its listing on Nasdaq Stockholm and oversee a workforce of approximately 6,000 employees across 30 countries, managing intellectual properties such as J.R.R. Tolkien's works, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Metro, Dead Island, Killing Floor, Darksiders, Remnant, and Tomb Raider. Westbergh expressed pride in the accomplishments of Coffee Stain as part of Embracer and acknowledged the excitement and slight apprehension associated with becoming a separately listed company. He emphasized the importance of this move in granting Coffee Stain the autonomy to navigate the competitive games industry on its own terms, focusing on supporting developers, engaging with communities, and building a brighter future. Lars Wingefors, co-founder and Group CEO of Embracer, expressed confidence in Anton's leadership and the long-term potential of Coffee Stain Group in attracting independent game developers and talent.
