Fortnite Makes a Comeback on iOS in the US and Europe
The popular game Fortnite is once again available for download on Apple's App Store in the US and Europe, marking a significant development in the long-standing feud between Epic Games and Apple. This reversal comes after Epic Games took Apple to court, accusing the tech giant of blocking its latest Fortnite submission. A federal judge intervened, ordering Apple to comply with a previous court ruling that prohibited the company from collecting fees on app purchases made outside of the App Store. The ruling, issued on May 1, 2025, by the Northern District of California Court, was reinforced by US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, who demanded Apple explain its reasoning for ignoring the court's order. With the dispute now resolved, as confirmed by both Apple and Epic Games, Fortnite's return to the App Store marks a new chapter in the companies' ongoing legal battle, which began in 2020 when Apple removed Fortnite from the App Store for bypassing platform fees.
