The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered Leads April Sales, Becoming 2025's Third-Best Selling Game in the US
According to Circana's US game sales charts for April 2025, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered secured the top spot and became the year's third-best selling game to date. Meanwhile, overall spending on games, hardware, and accessories experienced a slight year-on-year decline. Analysts at Circana noted that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered achieved higher unit sales in April 2025 than the original game did in its first 15 months on the market. Additionally, it generated more full-game dollar sales than the original's first 14 months combined. Mat Piscatella, Circana's executive director, pointed out that Forza Horizon 5 ranked second in sales following its PS5 debut, while Indiana Jones and the Great Circle came in third after also launching on PS5. Notably, four of the top five and five of the top seven best-selling PlayStation games were published by Microsoft. Call of Duty HQ led in monthly active users, but Schedule 1 had the most active users on Steam in April. The top-grossing games in terms of consumer spending were Monopoly Go!, Royal Match, and Candy Crush Saga. Hardware sales in April 2025 reached $186 million, an 8% decrease from the previous year and the lowest monthly total since July 2020. Although both PS5 and Switch hardware sales declined, with the latter dropping by 37%, Xbox Series sales saw an 8% increase. Accessory spending also decreased by 2% year-over-year. Lexi Wei from Sensor Tower observed that while the US mobile games market experienced a slight decline in April compared to March, several top games continued to perform strongly. Gossip Harbor: Merge & Story saw the most significant ranking improvement, rising five spots to enter the top ten at #9, driven by a 9.8% increase in consumer spending following the Easter Jamboree event.
