Nintendo Switch 2's Chat Function to Feature Live Subtitles and Text-to-Speech
The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to introduce live subtitles and text-to-speech functionality in its Game Chat. Although Nintendo has not officially announced this, recent videos have showcased these features in action. One video demonstrates how players can send typed messages that are then converted to speech for the recipient to hear. Another video highlights the system's ability to transcribe live conversations and display them on the screen. It is also believed that the system will support USB keyboards, similar to its predecessor, but this has not been officially confirmed. The Game Chat feature will be available for free to all users until March 31, 2026, after which it will require a Switch Online subscription, potentially limiting access to these accessibility features to premium subscribers. The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5, with the company aiming to make its products as accessible as possible despite market fluctuations caused by US tariffs.
