Codfish Academy Launches as Premier Unreal Engine Training Destination

A new training centre, Codfish Academy, has launched in Portugal, specialising in game development using Unreal Engine. Located within the Óbidos Technology Park, the academy was founded by industry veterans Oliver Kern, Ricardo Flores Santos, and Kadri Harma, who collectively bring over 50 years of experience from previous roles at Kokku, Nine66, and Lockwood Publishing. Following its launch, Codfish Academy has initiated online AI courses and is gearing up to start on-site training programs lasting between three to nine months, set to commence in October 2025. These comprehensive courses will delve into all facets of Unreal Engine, from foundational to advanced techniques, equipping students with relevant industry skills and expert guidance. According to Ricardo Flores Santos, CEO of Codfish Academy, 'Our mission is to empower game creators with the necessary skills, network, and confidence to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry.' He further emphasized the academy's goal to 'narrow the gap between traditional education and the needs of the industry.' Miguel Silvestre, Executive Director of Óbidos Parque, expressed his enthusiasm for the academy, stating, 'The arrival of Codfish Academy marks a significant step towards establishing Óbidos as a national hub for game development and digital arts.'
