Take-Two Concludes FY25 Within Expected Range as GTA 6 Release Shifts to FY27
Take-Two Interactive has announced its financial results for the fourth fiscal quarter, which ended on March 31, reporting a net loss due to impairment charges. Despite this, the company's net bookings reached the upper end of its guidance range for FY25. Key financial highlights include a net revenue of $1.583 billion, representing a 12% increase from the previous year, and a net loss of $3.73 billion. For the full fiscal year, Take-Two reported a net revenue of $5.63 billion, up 5% from the previous year, and a net loss of $4.48 billion. The total net bookings for FY25 were $5.65 billion, marking a 6% increase. The recent delay of Grand Theft Auto 6, now scheduled for release in FY27, was addressed in the results. Take-Two expressed its belief that granting Rockstar more time for this 'groundbreaking project' is a worthwhile investment. The company stated, 'The ambition and complexity of Grand Theft Auto 6 surpass any previous Rockstar title, and the team is poised to deliver another extraordinary entertainment experience that will exceed players' expectations.' Recurrent consumer spending surpassed expectations, with a 7% growth for the fiscal year and 14% for Q4, largely attributed to the success of NBA 2K, which saw high teens growth for the year, and single-digit growth for mobile and GTA Online. Grand Theft Auto 5 has now sold an impressive 215 million units. Notably, Red Dead Redemption 2 net bookings saw a 23% year-over-year increase, outperforming expectations. 2K had a notable Q4, with NBA 2K25 achieving almost 10 million units sold-in. Recurring spend is up for all titles year-over-year across 2K's sports portfolio. The launch of Sid Meier's Civilization VII in Q4 received mixed user reviews on Steam, with the company acknowledging ongoing efforts to update the game. Zynga's performance was praised, with Take-Two recognizing the company as an integral part of its operations. Following the delay of GTA 6, Take-Two expects to increase net bookings by 5% in FY26, with a guidance range of $5.9 billion to $6 billion. Upcoming releases include Borderlands 4 on September 12 and Mafia: The Old Country on August 8, both of which are highly anticipated. The company is set to launch 13 titles in FY26 and has a pipeline of approximately 38 titles scheduled for release between FY26 and FY28, which it is 'extremely optimistic' about.
