Sumo Group Undergoes Leadership Shift as Co-Founders Depart

Sumo Group has revealed that its co-founders, including CEO Carl Cavers, COO Paul Porter, and Director of Excellence and Integration Darren Mills, will be leaving the company. The trio, who founded Sumo Digital in 2003 alongside James North-Hearn, have decided it is the right time to step down. Cavers expressed his pride in the company's achievements and confidence in its ability to continue thriving. As part of the leadership transition, COO Gary Dunn and CFO Andy Stewart will take on the roles of co-CEOs. Additionally, Tim Repa-Davies will join Sumo's board of directors while maintaining his position as Group General Counsel Head of Legal Business and Affairs. The new co-CEOs emphasized the company's commitment to its core values of creativity, collaboration, and producing high-quality games. Sumo Group also reaffirmed its focus on work-for-hire services and its efforts to stabilize the business for long-term success. This announcement comes after the company's earlier decision to refocus its business on development services for partners, which led to restructuring and an undisclosed number of layoffs. In June of the previous year, Sumo had reduced its workforce by 15%, resulting in nearly 250 job losses.
