IGDA Expands Board of Directors with Three New Appointments
The International Game Developers Association has welcomed three new members to its board of directors, bolstering its leadership with a wealth of industry expertise. Tiziano Giardini, producer at 34BigThings and program director at Quickload, Jennifer Estaris, game director at Ustwo Games, and Dr. Pedro Zambon, researcher and industry consultant, have joined the nonprofit organization. Giardini, who co-founded IGDA Italy and is a member of the IGDA Incubator & Accelerator Special Interest Group, brings a deep understanding of the gaming landscape in Europe. Estaris, who has led projects such as Monument Valley 3 and Subway Surfers, volunteers with the IGDA Climate Special Interest Group and serves on the advisory council of Playing for the Planet. Zambon, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoctoral fellow and founder of Savegame.dev, is a strong advocate for sustainable game development in Latin America and the Global South. The new appointments follow the departure of four existing board members: Margaret Krohn, Natasha Skult, Rami Ismail, and Guy Blomberg. IGDA executive director Jakin Vela expressed enthusiasm for the new members, stating, "Their collective expertise will be instrumental in shaping a more inclusive and innovative future for game developers worldwide." The IGDA board expansion comes on the heels of a recent change in leadership at the International Game Developers Foundation, where Shannon Loftis was appointed as the new chair of its board of directors, succeeding Ed Fries.
