Unity Sees 6% Yearly Decline in Q1 2025 Revenue, Reaching $435 Million
Unity has unveiled its financial results for the first quarter of the 2025 fiscal year, revealing a revenue decline of 8% and 4% in its Create and Grow Solutions segments, respectively. According to Unity, the decline in Create Solutions revenue is primarily attributed to a decrease in professional services and consumption services revenue, stemming from a portfolio reset. However, this decrease was partially offset by robust growth in subscription revenue. The decline in Grow Solutions revenue was driven by a decrease in select products, but this loss was partially offset by the earlier-than-expected launch of Unity Vector. Key highlights include: revenue of $435 million, down 6% year-over-year; Create Solutions revenue of $150 million, down 8% year-over-year; Grow Solutions revenue of $285 million, down 4% year-over-year; and a net loss of $78 million, with a margin of 18%. Despite the decline, Unity reported that strength in both segments drove results that exceeded expectations, surpassing revenue guidance by 5% and adjusted EBITDA by 29%. Unity 6 has seen over 4.4 million downloads since its launch, with 43% of active users transitioning to the new version. The company also highlighted its continued strength in the game development community, with all nine game categories at the 2025 Independent Gaming Festival Awards going to Unity-made games. Additionally, two Unity-made games won 2025 BAFTA Awards, demonstrating the talent and creativity within the community. The migration of the Unity ad network to Unity Vector was completed ahead of schedule, with all iOS and Android traffic now running on the new platform. According to Matt Bromberg, president and CEO of Unity, the company's first-quarter results exceeded expectations, demonstrating progress in building a culture of execution and discipline.
