PlayStation Introduces New Studio, teamLFG, to Develop Innovative Project

Sony PlayStation has launched a new studio called teamLFG. According to Studio Business Group CEO Hermen Hulst, teamLFG is a collective of developers from across the industry, united to bring an ambitious incubation project to life. Hulst expressed his excitement about unveiling the new studio as part of the PlayStation Studios family. teamLFG is headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, with a distributed workforce across the US and Canada, combining AAA game development experience with fresh creative perspectives. The studio's name, teamLFG, stands for 'Looking For Group', reflecting its mission to create games that foster friendship, community, and belonging among players. The team aims to develop immersive multiplayer worlds with action games that players can engage with for countless hours. They plan to involve players in the development process through early access playtests and prioritize community feedback throughout the game's lifecycle. teamLFG's inaugural project is a team-based action game drawing inspiration from various genres, set in a new mythic science-fantasy universe. Although Sony initially announced 12 live service titles in 2022, the company has since adjusted its plans, including canceling two unannounced titles and shutting down the live service hero shooter Concord. This shift in strategy has also led to the closure of Firewalk Studios and Neon Koi.
