Epic Games Unveils Developer Webshops and Revised Revenue Sharing Model

In the wake of its recent legal victory against Apple, Epic Games has revealed plans to introduce a webshop feature for developers on the Epic Games Store. This new feature will enable developers to facilitate out-of-app purchases. Additionally, the company has updated its revenue share model, where developers will not be required to pay any commission on their first $1 million in revenue per app per year, after which the standard 12% revenue share will apply. Both of these features are slated to become available in June 2025. This development follows a court ruling that prohibits Apple from collecting fees on out-of-app purchases, paving the way for Fortnite's return to the US App Store. Epic Games' CEO, Tim Sweeney, has proposed a resolution, stating that if Apple adopts a worldwide, 'friction-free' framework, Epic will not only bring Fortnite back to the App Store globally but also drop all related litigation.
