Epic Games Executives Believe AI Will Become Increasingly Indistinguishable
Epic Games has stated that it will not monitor the use of AI in generating thumbnails for third-party mini-games within Fortnite, acknowledging that distinguishing AI-generated content from human-created art will become increasingly difficult. As AI-generated thumbnails become more prominent in Fortnite's user-generated content, the company emphasizes its primary focus is ensuring these thumbnails adhere to its guidelines. In a recent interview, Epic Games executives highlighted that the company prioritizes compliance with its rules over the tools used to create content. They also noted that while AI can be a useful tool, human artists still produce the best results. The executives expressed that attempting to identify and regulate AI-generated content specifically will become impractical, and their approach will be to assess whether the content complies with their rules, regardless of the creation method. Epic Games also clarified its stance on using AI in its own content creation, emphasizing the importance of ethical considerations and proper licensing. Meanwhile, the company reflected on its achievements, including reaching 295 million users on its PC store and a 15% increase in consumer spending on the platform.
