Lawsuit Filed Against Roblox and Discord for Alleged Role in Minor's Sexual Exploitation

A teenager in the US has initiated a lawsuit against Roblox and Discord, alleging that the platforms enabled her sexual exploitation as a minor. The lawsuit, filed by the law firms Anapol Weiss and Girard Sharp, claims that the companies' actions in designing and marketing their applications contributed to the severe harm she experienced. The plaintiff, who began using Roblox at the age of 12 with her father's consent, was allegedly groomed by a child predator who coerced her into sharing explicit images and videos. As a result, she suffered from depression, became introverted, and experienced a decline in her academic performance. The lawsuit accuses Roblox and Discord of various offenses, including fraudulent concealment, negligence, and design defects. In response, Roblox has stated that it is committed to protecting children and has implemented measures such as advanced filters and human moderation teams to detect and address inappropriate content. Discord has also expressed its commitment to user safety, stating that it takes decisive actions against policy violations, including content removal and user bans.
