Thatgamecompany and Coreblazer Unite for Emotional Game Jam with $4,000 Grand Prize
Developer of Sky: Children of the Light and Journey, Thatgamecompany, has collaborated with games investment initiative Coreblazer to launch a game jam focused on creating emotionally resonant projects. The jam offers a $4,000 grand prize for the 'Best Overall' game category and $2,000 prizes for the Best Visual Design, Best Gameplay, and Community's Voice Award categories. The event is open to developers worldwide, with the goal of creating games that embody Thatgamecompany's signature style, which emphasizes universal accessibility, emotional depth, and age-inclusive design. The judging panel features notable industry figures, including Thatgamecompany co-founder Jenova Chen and Hypergryph co-founder Light Zhong. According to Chen, this game jam marks a return to the company's roots, aiming to push the boundaries of emotional storytelling and interactive experiences. The collaboration with Coreblazer was a natural fit, as both companies share a passion for championing indie developers and heartfelt games. The game jam is an opportunity for developers to showcase their creativity and originality, with the potential for significant visibility and feedback from industry partners. Winners will be announced in July and showcased at Coreblazer Game Fest 2025 in Shanghai.
