Meta Reduces Reality Labs Division Staff
Meta has implemented a round of layoffs in its Reality Labs division, impacting various teams at Oculus Studios. According to a Meta spokesperson, the move aims to enhance operational efficiency within Oculus Studios. Although the exact number of affected staff members remains undisclosed, sources suggest that over 100 employees may have been impacted. The layoffs reportedly involve hardware and operations teams. Titles affected by the restructuring include the VR fitness game Supernatural, with the development team stating that the changes are intended to improve efficiency. Meta reaffirmed its commitment to investing in mixed reality experiences, despite the layoffs. This development follows a series of cuts, including the layoff of 5% of Meta's staff earlier in 2025 and a major restructuring in March 2023 that resulted in 10,000 job losses and the elimination of 5,000 open positions.
