Twitch Dominates Global Game Streaming in 2024 with Over 60% Market Share

Twitch has unveiled its first-ever gaming-specific data, offering a glimpse into its viewership and engagement metrics for 2024. Notably, the platform accounted for more than 60% of the global live gaming streaming audience, with viewers tuning in for over 15.6 billion hours of content. Additionally, Twitch averaged over 105 million monthly visitors last year. Grand Theft Auto 5 retained its position as the most-watched game, with audiences consuming over 1.4 billion hours of content and streaming for more than 25.8 million hours worldwide. League of Legends followed closely, with over 1.19 million viewers, while competitive shooters like Valorant, Call of Duty, and Fortnite also drew large crowds, including 804 million hours of viewership for Valorant. Minecraft was another highly popular title, with over 379 million hours watched globally. Furthermore, Twitch observed a substantial growth trend in streaming formats, particularly with virtual streamers, or VTubers, who experienced an unprecedented surge in popularity, presenting themselves through 2D or 3D avatars. According to Twitch, VTubers saw enormous growth, with 1.1 billion hours viewed, marking a 10% year-over-year increase. The UK witnessed the most significant surge in viewership, with a 200% growth in hours watched.
