Devolver Digital Reduces Nerial Staff by 40%

Devolver Digital has announced a significant reduction in its workforce at Nerial, one of its subsidiary studios, with a 40% cut in staff. This move follows the halving of teams at its Polish studio, Artificer, and Good Shepherd / Big Fan, which were reduced by over 50% in 2024. Despite reporting a strong financial performance and a return to profit and growth, Devolver Digital has reassessed its global footprint and reduced its overall headcount from 303 to approximately 270 employees. The publisher has stated that Nerial's restructuring aims to address issues with recent releases and prepare the team for future projects. This restructuring has resulted in a 40% reduction in headcount. Similarly, Artificer and Good Shepherd / Big Fan have undergone significant reductions, with a new greenlight process in place to focus on projects that better align with current market conditions and gamer trends. The gaming industry has seen significant job losses in 2025, with over 1600 developers affected by cuts and closures at various studios.
