Anbernic Halts US Shipments of Retro Consoles Due to Tariff Implications

Due to the tariffs imposed on Chinese goods by the Trump administration, Anbernic, a leading retro handheld console maker, has temporarily ceased shipping its products to the US. The company, headquartered in China, has updated its shipping policy to inform customers about potential import duties on their purchases. In a statement, Anbernic announced, "In light of the recent changes to US tariff policies, we are suspending all shipments from China to the United States." The company advises customers to prioritize products shipped from its US warehouse, which are not subject to import duties and can be purchased with assurance. Anbernic will keep its customers informed about any developments regarding import duties and will post updates to its shipping policy on its website. According to The Verge, Anbernic typically ships products directly from China upon the release of a new handheld console and then replenishes stock in its US warehouse. Although US customers cannot currently buy directly from Anbernic, the company's products are available through third-party sites like Amazon. Founded in 2017 by Shenzhen YangLiMing Electronic Technology Co, Anbernic introduced China's first open-source handheld gaming console, the Retro Games series, and has since expanded its product line to over 30 models, including consoles that can emulate gaming systems such as NES, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, SNES, PlayStation, Nintendo 64, PlayStation Portable, and Nintendo DS.
