Agonalea Games Receives $2 Million Investment from Mika Capital
Argentine mobile game studio Agonalea Games has successfully secured $2 million in funding through a seed investment round led by Mika Games. The investment will be used to propel the development and publication of the studio's free-to-play mobile title, Punko.io. Founded in 2018 by industry veterans Pedro Aira and Vanina Fregoti, Agonalea Games boasts an impressive portfolio of eight original games and has contributed to over ten game titles. According to Nick Katselapov, founder of Mika Games, "Our investment in Agonalea Games extends beyond financial support, as we aim to provide strategic guidance to help them create innovative and exceptional mobile gaming experiences." This investment marks Mika Games' third funding endeavor, following previous investments in Guli Games and Hot Siberians. Having raised $10 million in its initial funding round in April 2024, Mika Games plans to secure an additional $50 million. The firm, backed by Flint Capital, not only invests in game developers but also offers comprehensive support in areas such as marketing, game design, and monetization. Katselapov highlighted the challenges faced by mobile game developers, stating, "A staggering 83% of mobile games cease to exist within three years, often due to insufficient financing and lack of business acumen." He further emphasized, "We recognize a significant market opportunity in this gap and are well-positioned to identify talented teams and promising games, given our dual role as investors and industry operators."
