Director Michael Sarnoski Tapped to Helm Death Stranding Film Adaptation

Michael Sarnoski, the acclaimed director of A Quiet Place: Day One and Pig, is reportedly on board to direct the film adaptation of Death Stranding. According to recent reports, Sarnoski will also be responsible for writing the screenplay. The project is set to be produced by Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen's production company, Square Peg Films. The film adaptation of the popular game was first announced in 2023, with Kojima Productions partnering with A24 to bring the story to the big screen. Hideo Kojima, founder of Kojima Productions, expressed his admiration for A24, stating that their unique approach to filmmaking aligns with the values of his own production company. Kojima has clarified that he will not be directing the film but will be involved in the project as a supervisor. He has also mentioned that there are multiple Death Stranding adaptation projects in the works, including a separate story that he has written specifically for the movie. Kojima Productions has been expanding its reach into music, television, and film since 2021. The original Death Stranding game, released in 2019, boasts an impressive cast, including Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, and Léa Seydoux. A sequel, titled Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, is scheduled for release on June 26, 2025, and will feature new characters played by Ellie Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, and Luca Marinelli.
