Ubisoft Leamington Closes Its Doors

Following the recent layoffs, Ubisoft Leamington has officially ceased operations. This news was announced on the studio's LinkedIn page, where they expressed gratitude to their team for their contributions to the gaming industry. Although the studio is closed, some team members will still be present at local industry events. In January, it was confirmed that a small group of staff would transition to remote work. The closure resulted in the loss of around 100 jobs across Ubisoft Leamington and Ubisoft Reflections. The reason for this decision was to streamline projects, reduce costs, and ensure the company's long-term stability. Prior to its acquisition by Ubisoft in 2017, the studio was known as FreeStyleGames and was responsible for the DJ Hero series. In recent years, the studio supported various Ubisoft projects, including Tom Clancy's The Division and Star Wars: Outlaws. Before its closure, the studio was working on a new, unannounced IP, as indicated by old job listings and social media posts.
