Enhanced Parental Controls: Roblox Introduces New Features for Child Safety

Roblox has expanded its parental control settings with the introduction of three innovative features, further strengthening child safety measures on the platform. Parents and guardians now have the ability to block and report any users on their child's friends list, effectively preventing direct messaging from blocked contacts. Moreover, specific games and experiences can be restricted, whereas previously, parents could only review or adjust the content maturity level. Additionally, Roblox provides in-depth insights into the experiences children engage with, allowing parents to view the top 20 experiences their child has spent the most time on over the past week. If desired, parents can block access to these experiences. They can also set spending limits on their child's account and manage their child's privacy settings. According to ConnectSafely CEO Larry Magid, 'By providing tools to block specific friends and Roblox experiences, along with visibility into playtime, parents can better support their children's safe use of the platform.' Roblox has consistently delivered tools enabling parents to help their children enjoy the platform while minimizing online risks. The new friend and experience blocking tools offer parents additional ways to ensure their children's safe usage. The overhaul of parental controls, announced in October 2024 and implemented in November, included remote parental controls, updated communication settings, and content labels for experiences. The firm also introduced moderation for unrated experiences, restricted access to social hangouts, and free-form user content.
