Unity Confirms Support for Authorized Nintendo Switch 2 Developers

Unity has announced its commitment to providing official support for game developers working on the Nintendo Switch 2, with plans to offer this support through a Unity 6 add-on specifically designed for approved Nintendo developers. This move is part of Unity's broader effort to empower creators to bring their projects to life across a wide range of platforms. Developers can expect access to optimized rendering and performance, comprehensive multiplayer solutions, and detailed development documentation. Additionally, Unity aims to simplify the process of porting existing Nintendo Switch games to the Nintendo Switch 2 by ensuring compatibility with key Unity 6 features, including input systems, build profiles, and incremental build pipeline. According to Matthew Bromberg, CEO and President of Unity, "We're thrilled to offer official support for Nintendo Switch 2, having thoroughly tested our support through the development of a day-one launch title." This development process provided valuable insights that will contribute to further enhancements of the Unity engine for developers creating new games for the Nintendo Switch 2. The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5, with the base unit priced at $450, or $500 bundled with Mario Kart World, and pre-orders starting on April 9.
