Sony Introduces PlayStation 5 Rental Service in the UK

Sony has collaborated with Raylo, a technology leasing company, to launch a rental program for PlayStation 5 hardware in the UK through its Flex initiative. Consumers can lease PS5 consoles and other accessories without any initial payment, choosing from flexible monthly plans that can be cancelled at any time or fixed-term contracts. The flexible monthly plan is the most expensive option, with prices decreasing as the lease period extends to 12, 24, or 36 months. Available rental hardware includes: PS5 Digital Edition with one or two controllers, PS5 Slim, PS5 Pro, PS Portal, PS VR2, and the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller, with prices starting from £6.49. The full pricing details for each plan are available online. Sony's support page clarifies that, as these are rental agreements, customers do not retain ownership of the consoles. At the end of the lease, customers may have the option to return, upgrade, or purchase the device, subject to Raylo's terms and pricing. Additionally, all devices rented through Raylo come with a lifetime warranty, ensuring that any faulty or damaged hardware can be repaired or replaced at no extra cost.
