European Investment Fund Commits $20 Million to Boost Nordic Gaming Industry
The European Investment Fund has allocated $21 million to enhance game development in Nordic countries, including Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. The funds, granted to Behold Ventures, will support emerging game developers across the region. With the EU gaming industry generating $25 billion in revenue in 2022 and experiencing rapid growth, the EIF aims to address funding gaps and maintain global competitiveness. The gaming sector employs over 75,000 people in 5,000 studios across the EU. Since its inception in 2021, Behold Ventures has invested nearly $15 million in 18 game studios. "This partnership with EIF is vital, and their support will be a catalyst for Nordic game development," said Magnus Kenneby, partner at Behold Ventures. "It enables us to accelerate our mission of fostering and investing in exceptional talent, further establishing the Nordics as a global gaming hub."
