Ballistic Moon, Developer of Until Dawn Remake, Shuts Down Operations

Reports have emerged that Ballistic Moon, the studio behind the Until Dawn remake, has effectively shut down. This news comes after the studio announced a major downsizing in September 2024, with the goal of securing its future. However, sources close to the matter have revealed that the situation is more dire, with multiple rounds of layoffs leaving only the founders and a few remaining staff members. The latest round of layoffs has resulted in the departure of 20 more developers, in addition to the 40 who lost their jobs in September. As a result, there are no longer any employees working in PR, marketing, or development, and the studio's management has been unable to secure new projects or funding. A source stated, 'People are reporting bugs in the game, but there's no one left to work on patch support.' The studio's closure has also been marred by allegations of unpaid overtime, with some staff members claiming to have worked weeks without pay. The gaming industry has seen a significant number of job losses in recent months, with over 1,200 developers losing their jobs in the first two months of 2025 alone. Other affected studios include Freejam, Splash Damage, and Ubisoft, among others.
