Study Reveals 30% of Game Developers Believe AI Will Be Crucial in QA Testing
A recent study conducted by Modl.ai indicates that nearly one-third of game developers consider artificial intelligence to be extremely important for quality assurance testing. The study, which surveyed 303 US-based game developers from various departments, found that the vast majority, at 94%, have already incorporated AI into their workflows to support tasks such as automated test scripts, bug reporting, and playtesting. The report suggests that leveraging AI for routine and data-intensive tasks can enable developers to focus on more creative aspects of QA where human judgment is invaluable. This is especially relevant given that 77% of respondents felt they were not conducting sufficient QA due to limited time and resources. Approximately half of the surveyed developers found AI to be particularly useful for rapid bug detection, automated reporting, and continuous testing. In terms of cost-effectiveness, 15% deemed AI to be very cost-effective, while 40% considered it somewhat cost-effective, and 34% remained neutral. However, concerns about using AI in QA persist, with the majority of developers citing the lack of human insight and the potential for inaccuracies as their primary concerns. According to Modl.ai's CEO, Christoffer Holmgård, 'AI enhances human expertise without replacing it.' He emphasized the importance of human-AI collaboration in QA processes, noting that developers must consider how AI tools can be integrated into their existing workflows to maximize their benefits.
