Striking Distance Studios Experiences Staff Reduction

Krafton has verified that Striking Distance Studios, the developer behind The Callisto Protocol, has undergone a new round of staff cuts. In a statement provided to PC Gamer, Krafton explained that an unspecified number of employees were let go to maintain the studio's agility and ensure a sustainable work environment. "To adapt to its current development stage, Striking Distance Studios has downsized its team, creating a more agile and sustainable setting," the statement read. "The studio will continue to operate, and these adjustments will not affect any ongoing support plans. No additional changes are anticipated at this time." Rumors of layoffs began circulating last week, with former concept artist Jesse Lee stating on LinkedIn that "a significant portion of the development team" was let go, and former animation director Zach Volker mentioning "widespread layoffs" in a separate post. This move follows a previous round of layoffs in August 2023, when 32 employees were let go after the release of DLC for The Callisto Protocol.
