Ukrainian Game Developer Reburn Emerges, Unveils New Project

The Ukrainian division of 4A Games has undergone a rebranding, emerging as Reburn, and has revealed its latest intellectual property, La Quimera. According to Polygon, La Quimera is the result of a collaborative effort between Reburn, film director Nicolas Refn, and writer E.J.A. Warren. Currently in development, this first-person shooter is set in a fictional Latin American city, offering both single-player and co-op modes for up to three players. In a social media statement, 4A Games clarified that the studio as a whole remains unchanged and continues to work on the next Metro series game. 'To clarify, there has been no rebranding or alteration,' the statement reads. 'The founders and the driving force behind the Metro series are still dedicated to developing the next Metro game from our Ukrainian, Maltese, and remote studios. Additionally, we are progressing with our other new IP, as mentioned in previous updates.' Dmytro Lymar, founder and CEO of Reburn, confirmed that the 4A Games Ukraine trademark will remain associated with the Metro series, while Reburn will be dedicated to the new IP. 'We coined the term Reburn with the assistance of a creative agency in Kyiv, who will announce their involvement shortly,' Lymar explained. 'The name signifies 'burning again,' but for us, it embodies the idea of rebirth or reincarnation in a new form, symbolizing the creation of a new game with its own unique identity. Nonetheless, we have retained our core values of crafting games that we ourselves would enjoy playing and incorporating ideas from all team members.'
