Madbox Expands with New Studio Launch in Annecy, France

French mobile game developer Madbox has inaugurated a brand-new studio in Annecy, France. According to a report by Pocket Gamer, the studio commenced operations in January 2025 within the co-working space known as Les Papeteries – Image Factory. The Annecy studio is led by Arthur Michel, who serves as the game lead, alongside a leadership team comprising Hugues Barlet as game manager and Clément Auvray as senior game developer. The company plans to expand its existing workforce of 100 employees by 15% in 2025, with half of the new recruits set to be based at the Annecy location. "Our primary motivation for selecting Annecy stems from our conviction that the most effective teams produce the most exceptional games, and our goal is to bring together talented gamers with a distinctive chemistry," stated Maxime Demeure, CEO and co-founder of Madbox. "We had the ideal team at Madbox, and they were looking for a unique space in a picturesque and creative city. We took a calculated risk and decided to create a new site for a team we firmly believe in, which ultimately led to the establishment of the Annecy studio. This move represents a strategic bet on a team, aligning with the core principles that have guided Madbox since its inception." Founded in 2018, Madbox operates studios in Paris and Barcelona. The company secured $16.5 million in Series A funding in 2019, which facilitated the launch of its Spanish studio.
