Marvel Rivals Holds Top Position in PC Engagement for January 2025
In January 2025, Marvel Rivals climbed to the top five in Newzoo's overall revenue chart, advancing one spot after its December 6, 2024 release. The game maintained its lead in PC player engagement and jumped from sixth to second place in platform revenue. Notably, it also secured a spot in the top five for PlayStation revenue, demonstrating its success amidst NetEase's confirmation of layoffs at a US support studio. The revenue charts saw newcomers, including Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC, with the latter debuting at number ten. Spider-Man 2 entered the top 20 despite only being available for two days before the cutoff. On the Switch, Hello Kitty Island Adventure and Donkey Kong Country Returns HD made their debut, while It Takes Two rose ten places to number 15. Player engagement remained relatively consistent across consoles, although PlayStation experienced significant shifts, including Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's leap to number 16 following the announcement of its final post-launch content, and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered's surge to number 13 after being offered free to PS Plus subscribers throughout January.
