Former Belka Team Members Launch Studio42, a New Mobile Gaming Venture
A group of former Belka Games employees has established a new mobile game development studio in Cyprus, dubbed Studio42, with ex-Belka CEO Alexandr Boganov at the helm. He is joined by Ivan Larionov, the former development head, who serves as COO and co-founder, and Pavel Sudakov, the previous R&D department head, who takes on the role of producer and co-founder. According to reports from PocketGamer, the studio's initial focus will be on developing casual puzzle games, with their debut project slated for release soon. The team expressed a desire to recapture the dynamic of smaller, more agile teams, where creativity and innovation thrive. "We yearned for the days of intimate, collaborative teams where a small group of individuals could rapidly turn ambitious ideas into reality, unencumbered by bureaucratic processes," the studio noted. By combining their expertise and passion, the founders aim to craft engaging gaming experiences that are more than just features – they are the culmination of teamwork and dedication. As stated by Larionov, "Alongside Alexandr Bogdanov and Pavel Sudakov, we decided to embark on our own venture, Studio42. We possess the knowledge, experience, and exceptional partners, coupled with a robust team and an unrelenting passion. Currently, we are working on a new project, which will be released shortly, followed by another, and another." This development comes on the heels of Belka Games' decision to lay off 33 employees in May 2024.
