Aptoide Expands to EU iOS Users with Full Launch

The alternative app store Aptoide has officially rolled out its services to iOS users across the European Union, introducing a feature that allows users to install previous versions of applications, a capability previously exclusive to Android users. Following a beta launch in June 2024 that garnered a waitlist of 20,000 users, Aptoide now offers an alternative in-app payment system for iOS, developed in collaboration with Apple. According to Aptoide CEO Paulo Trezentos, this launch signifies a significant step towards an open distribution ecosystem. The move follows the introduction of the Digital Markets Act, which mandates Apple to support third-party app stores on its platform, paving the way for companies like Aptoide and Epic Games to introduce their own mobile stores.
