Kayleen Walters Takes the Helm at Mojang

Microsoft's Vice President of Gaming, Kayleen Walters, has been appointed to lead Mojang Studios, effective immediately. Walters will retain her current role as VP and head of franchise development at Microsoft Gaming, while assuming her new position. Åsa Bredin, the current head of Mojang, is stepping down to concentrate on personal goals outside of work. Federico San Martin will take over Walters' day-to-day responsibilities for franchise development, as reported by Variety. Walters will work closely with Mojang's global leadership team, which includes Amy Stillion, who will expand her role as chief of staff to support the operations of both game and content studios, as well as Mojang Studios. In an internal memo, Microsoft's COO of game content and studios, Helen Chiang, expressed confidence in the team's ability to deliver exceptional experiences, stating, 'Change is never easy, but I have full confidence in this team and its ability to deliver incredible experiences for our players and community.' Chiang also thanked Bredin for her contributions since 2021 and wished her well in her future endeavors.
