Crytek Reduces Workforce by 15%, Delays Crysis 4 Development
Crytek, a prominent German game development studio, has revealed plans to downsize its workforce by 15%, resulting in the redundancy of around 60 employees across its development and shared services divisions. The announcement, made via social media, also disclosed that the development of Crysis 4 has been temporarily suspended as a consequence of this strategic decision. In a public statement, the company expressed its appreciation for the dedication of its staff, stating: "This decision was not made lightly, as we value the tireless efforts of our skilled teams." The statement continued: "Following the pause in development of the next Crysis installment in Q3 2024, we attempted to reallocate developers to support Hunt: Showdown 1896. Although Hunt: Showdown 1896 continues to grow, Crytek must adapt to ensure financial sustainability. Despite ongoing cost-cutting measures, we have come to the realization that layoffs are unavoidable to secure the company's future." The statement concluded: "We remain confident in Crytek's prospects, with Hunt: Showdown 1896 serving as a robust gaming platform. We are fully committed to its continued operation and success."
