Dino Patti Regains Control of Jumpship Following Acquisition from Thunderful

Dino Patti, co-founder of Jumpship, has successfully reacquired the studio after it was previously acquired by Thunderful in 2022. Additionally, Patti has obtained shares in Sad Owl Studios, the developer of Viewfinder. This move comes after significant layoffs took place at Thunderful last November. Patti and Chris Olsen initially founded Jumpship in 2017 with the goal of developing the action-adventure title Somerville into a prominent IP. Following the game's launch, Thunderful acquired the studio, and Olsen subsequently left Jumpship. Patti took on the role of strategic advisor for Thunderful during this transition. With the reacquisition now complete, Patti is set to revamp Jumpship with a fresh direction in mind. He expressed his vision, stating, 'The current investment and publishing landscape has become stagnant, and it's in dire need of a complete overhaul to better support talented game developers and, most importantly, the players.' Patti aims to take Jumpship in a new direction while remaining true to its founding principles of pushing the boundaries of emotions, storytelling, and innovation in gaming. He emphasized that this decision goes beyond mere business, as it's about rekindling the passion and vision that initially drove Jumpship, and taking it to new heights.
