Bandai Namco Experiences Significant Staff Reduction, Losing 120 Employees in Under a Year

It has been reported that Bandai Namco has cut its workforce by over 100 employees from April 2024 to February 2025. A comparison of the company's own data, which stated 1,294 employees, with information from the Japan Pension Service, reveals a decline of 117 employees during this period, with the current number standing at 1,177 as of February 4, 2025, as initially noted by Automaton. This news follows previous allegations in October that the company adopted a traditional Japanese approach to downsizing by assigning certain employees to roles with minimal responsibilities, effectively encouraging them to leave voluntarily. At that time, it was claimed that around 200 out of 1,300 employees were relocated to these so-called "expulsion rooms," with nearly half of them subsequently resigning. In late November 2024, Bandai Namco Online was dissolved through an "absorption-type merger" with its parent company, resulting in the subsidiary's operations being transferred to Bandai Namco.
