New Round of Layoffs Hits ProbablyMonsters

ProbablyMonsters is undergoing a fresh wave of layoffs, according to recent reports. Citing posts from former employees on LinkedIn, as reported by GameDeveloper, it appears that several projects have been discontinued, leading to numerous staff members announcing their availability for new opportunities. Some affected employees have taken to social media to share their experiences, with one game designer stating, "My latest project at ProbablyMonsters has been shut down, and I'm now seeking a new position," while a former QA lead mentioned, "My team was unfortunately let go, and I'm looking for my next role." ProbablyMonsters has chosen not to comment on the matter, leaving the exact number of impacted roles unknown. This latest round of layoffs comes just a few months after the company cut approximately 50 jobs in October 2024. The string of job cuts that began in 2024 continues into 2025, with over 700 developers losing their jobs in January alone, including cuts at Freejam, Splash Damage, Piranha Games, Jar of Sparks, and 185 positions eliminated by Ubisoft.
