Sumo Group Shifts Focus to Partner Development Services

Sumo Group has unveiled plans to concentrate its business on providing development services to partners, a move that will involve restructuring and potential job losses. In a statement following an internal announcement, the company noted that this shift will enable it to "enhance its core capabilities and restore a prosperous business model." The firm acknowledged that this transition will inevitably affect its studios and personnel, stating, "We are dedicated to mitigating the impact as far as possible, examining all avenues to retain skilled employees and providing support to those affected with openness, empathy, and understanding." It reassured partners that the changes will not compromise existing or future collaborations. Sumo Group is renowned for its collaborative work on notable titles such as Team Sonic Racing, Snake Pass, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure. The announcement comes after the company reduced its workforce by up to 15% last June, resulting in nearly 250 redundancies.
