Capcom's Financial Performance Aligns with Projections Despite Declines in Net Income and Sales
Capcom has announced its financial results for the nine-month period ending December 31, 2024, indicating that its net sales and operating income are on track with the company's fiscal plan. Despite experiencing a 16.3% year-over-year decline in net sales to ¥88.9 billion ($572.7 million) and a 33% decrease in net income, the company will not revise its full-year forecast. Instead, it expects the second half of the year to be weighted towards new title releases. Key financial highlights for the nine-month period include: net sales of ¥88.9 billion ($572.7 million), representing a 16% year-over-year decrease; operating income of ¥31 billion ($199.9 million), down 35% year-over-year; and net income of ¥23 billion ($148.2 million), which saw a 33% year-over-year decline. The company reported selling 246 titles across 225 countries and regions, contributing to the enhancement of its brand value. The Monster Hunter series demonstrated continued unit sales growth, while other series, such as Resident Evil 4, also saw increased sales. Additionally, Capcom confirmed the upcoming release of Onimusha Way of the Sword in 2026 and the initiation of an Okami sequel project. The company noted that catalogue sales of major titles from previous fiscal years dominated its Digital Contents business, with total sales volumes reaching 30.53 million units, down from 32.6 million units in the same period of the previous fiscal year. However, catalogue title sales increased to 28.61 million units, up from 26.7 million units in the same period of the previous fiscal year, driven by the company's digital sales strategy.
