Hideaki Nishino Takes Helm as Sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment
Effective April 1, 2025, Hideaki Nishino will assume the position of sole CEO at Sony Interactive Entertainment. This development follows the joint CEO appointment of Nishino and Hermen Hulst in May of the previous year, subsequent to Jim Ryan's departure. Hulst will retain his role overseeing the studio business group, which encompasses the first-party teams of PlayStation and the adaptation of IPs into various mediums, and will report directly to Nishino. Concurrently, CFO Hiroki Totoki has been elevated to the position of CEO and President of Sony Group Corporation. Lin Tao, SVP of finance, corporate development, and strategy, will succeed Totoki as CFO. Totoki expressed his sentiments: "I have thoroughly enjoyed collaborating closely with Hermen and Nishino, gaining invaluable insights into the dynamic and rapidly evolving landscape of Sony Interactive Entertainment. As we pass the torch to Nishino and this exceptional leadership team, I am confident that SIE will scale new heights in the forthcoming days." Nishino also remarked: "Our focus will be on expanding the PlayStation community through innovative means, such as IP expansion, while delivering cutting-edge technological advancements. I would like to extend my gratitude to Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues to lead the studio business group. I am deeply appreciative of the unwavering support from the PlayStation community, and I am thrilled about the prospects that the future holds."
