Assassin's Creed Shadows Modified to Meet Japanese Regulations

The Japanese release of Assassin's Creed Shadows, scheduled for March 2025, will have certain content alterations. According to Ubisoft, despite receiving a CERO Z rating, which is equivalent to an 18+ classification, the Japanese edition will differ from its international counterparts. The Japanese ratings board, CERO, has confirmed that the option to enable or disable amputation has been permanently taken out for Japanese players, and the game's settings will no longer allow for the amputation of enemies' necks and limbs. Furthermore, CERO required changes to the in-game depiction of severed body parts for the game to be approved for release in Japan, similar to the censorship experienced by Cyberpunk 2077.
