Ubisoft Announces Restructuring Efforts, Resulting in 185 Job Cuts

As part of its efforts to streamline operations and ensure long-term stability, Ubisoft has announced a series of restructuring measures across several European studios. This move will affect a total of 185 employees, with around 100 of these redundancies occurring at the UK-based studios, Ubisoft Leamington and Ubisoft Reflections. The remaining job losses will be distributed between Ubisoft Düsseldorf and Ubisoft Stockholm. According to a Ubisoft spokesperson, the decision to restructure is aimed at prioritizing projects and reducing costs. Unfortunately, this will result in the permanent closure of the Ubisoft Leamington site. However, a small number of Leamington staff will be offered remote contracts. The company has expressed its gratitude for the contributions of the affected employees and has committed to supporting them through this transition. This latest round of job cuts is part of a larger trend in the gaming industry, with several other companies having announced similar measures in recent months. Notably, the Swedish games firm Enad Global 7 has also initiated a wind-down process for Toadman Interactive, resulting in significant job losses. The gaming industry continues to experience a wave of restructuring, with companies such as Freejam, Splash Damage, and Jar of Sparks also being impacted.
