Palestinian Game Developer Exceeds Crowdfunding Goal by Nearly $50,000

Rasheed Abueideh, a Palestinian game developer, has successfully concluded his crowdfunding campaign for a historically-inspired pseudo-3D stealth adventure game, surpassing his initial funding goal by almost $50,000. Abueideh resorted to crowdfunding after facing a decade of rejections from potential funding partners and publishers, who deemed supporting a Palestinian developer 'too risky' or 'controversial'. The project, titled Dreams on a Pillow, aimed to raise approximately $195,000 but ultimately closed at over $244,000. Although Abueideh acknowledges that an additional $495,000 is required to complete the project, the crowdfunding success will enable the game to transition from pre-production to production. The developer expressed gratitude to the 3,336 supporters who contributed to the project, stating that their support will pave the way for a historic milestone in the gaming industry.
