Toadman Interactive Ceases Operations, Piranha Games Undergoes Staff Reduction

Enad Global 7 (EG7), a Swedish gaming company, recently initiated the process of winding down Toadman Interactive, resulting in the layoff of 38 employees from Piranha Games. The decision to shut down Toadman Interactive was attributed to the studio's inability to secure new contracts at a sufficient pace, amidst ongoing industry challenges. Existing contracts, including those for Daybreak and Cold Iron, will be fulfilled during the wind-down process scheduled for the second half of 2025. A total of 69 employees and subcontractors will be affected, with 42 set to remain on board to complete protected projects. This development follows Toadman's closure of its offices in Stockholm, Visby, and Oslo, as well as redundancies at its Berlin studio, last September. Meanwhile, Piranha Games is undergoing a 'business optimisation plan' following the release of MechWarrior 5: Clans, resulting in the departure of 38 employees. According to EG7 CEO Ji Ham, despite the high quality of the game, it failed to attract new audiences and meet the required sales targets, prompting the necessary actions. The formation of EG7 in January 2020 brought together Toadman, publisher Sold Out, and creative agency Petrol, with the subsequent acquisition of Piranha Games for $24.1 million later that year.
