Anime Series Based on Ghost of Tsushima Announced

A new anime series inspired by the world of Ghost of Tsushima is currently in production, with a focus on the game's Legends multiplayer mode. The announcement was made at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, revealing that Takanobu Mizuno will direct the series, which is a collaborative effort between anime studio Kamikaze Douga and Aniplex. The series is slated to premiere on Crunchyroll, a Sony-owned anime streaming platform, in 2027. According to Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, 'The immersive world and fantastical elements of Ghost of Tsushima's Legends mode, rooted in Japanese mythology, make it an ideal candidate for an anime adaptation.' He further emphasized that Aniplex is the ideal partner to bring Sucker Punch Productions' acclaimed video game to life as a captivating anime series. In addition to the anime series, a feature film based on Ghost of Tsushima is also in development, with Chad Stahelski, known for his work on John Wick, set to direct. Sucker Punch Productions will serve as an executive producer on the film. Furthermore, a sequel to the 2020 action-adventure game, titled Ghost of Yōtei, is currently in development and is expected to launch on the PS5 in 2025, as announced at the Game Awards last month.
